Green Project Requirement

All cash awards must be used by the winning organization or group to fund a “green project” that falls within the broad mission of Bedford 2020: energy, waste/recycling, food/agriculture, water/land use or transportation. Such projects might include, but are not limited to funding for: a community or school garden, tree plantings in Bedford, neighborhood recycling bins, solar powered composting bins, electric vehicle charging station, energy efficiency building upgrade, replacement of heating/cooling systems, or a recycling or composting program. Applicants may identify their proposed “green project” when they sign up for Energize Community Challenge or in a later submission, but cash awards will not be awarded until the Bedford 2020 Board has approved the “green project”. In the interest of community building for the incentive program, “for profit” organizations must use the award money for a green project that has a community or charitable purpose that falls within the mission of Bedford 2020.

Bedford 2020 and Energize Bedford have created a Toolkit of ideas and resources to help organizations compete.  The Toolkit contains information about our mission and programs, sample website and newsletter language for your communications, and customized print-outs for your facility or events.  The Bedford 2020 and Energize Bedford staff are always happy to answer questions and provide help.
